Powers of Death Is Back on Track
After a short delay, Powers of Death is once again on track for publication.
I’ve received some editorial feedback and have a few revisions to make—news that should delight anyone hoping for a deeper look into Sabina’s thoughts, emotions, and inner world. Since Sabina tends to approach life with logic rather than emotion, bringing more of that side of her to the page will take some careful thought on my part.
Hopefully, it won’t take too long. The publication date will ultimately depend on how quickly I can complete these improvements, but I’m excited about the changes and confident they’ll make the story even stronger.
Thank you all for your patience and support. I’ll share more updates as soon as I can.
OH MY!
I went back to read my previous blog and because I don’t usually read my own blog sent to myself Gmail noted the newsletter hadn’t been opened in two months and sent it to the trash bin. ☹ If you haven’t been getting all my newsletters, you may want to check the trash.
A WRITER’S JOURNEY
Writing is often a solitary endeavor, so any opportunity to step away from my secluded basement office and spend time with fellow authors is time well invested. Connecting with other writers provides a wonderful opportunity to learn how they are navigating this unique journey, while also sharing our own experiences along the way.

I’d like to share a few photos (perhaps more than a few!) from May’s CrossRiver Authors Retreat in the Texas Hill Country.
A heartfelt thank-you to DeeDee for opening her delightful home to us for the CrossRiver Authors Retreat—a retreat that was definitely heavy on the “treat.” Throughout our time together, we learned from one another by sharing writing experiences, publishing insights, and marketing strategies, with DeeDee generously sharing her expertise and guidance.
I returned home refreshed, invigorated, and inspired. One of the greatest gifts of the retreat was discovering five talented authors whose work I am eager to read. Even better, they became instant friends.
Beyond our writing sessions, we explored the beauty and history of the Texas Hill Country, visiting local sites including the Kerrville Cross and other area attractions. The combination of learning, laughter, fellowship, and exploration made for an unforgettable experience.
I hope you enjoy this glimpse into our wonderful retreat.
We paused out of respect for the many who were lost in the floods of 2025, its devastation still evident in our walk along the Guadalupe River.

More than 25 years ago, my parents helped build and renovate the Lutheran church in Boerne. After this opportunity to visit the town myself, I completely understood why they fell in love with it. With its warm charm, rich history, and beautiful river walk, Boerne has a way of capturing your heart.

This month’s Bible verse was inspired by Kerville cross garden walk stepping stones.

The Island Paradise: Where Royal Women Disappeared
What if one of the most beautiful islands in the Roman Empire was actually a prison?
From a distance, Pandateria looked like paradise—luxurious villas, gardens, thermal baths, and breathtaking Mediterranean views. But for the imperial women sent there, it was a place of exile, isolation, and forgotten lives.
This haunting island becomes an important setting in my upcoming novel, Powers of Death, where history and mystery collide.
